Emily A. Francis

Emily is a highly sought-after speaker, author and wellness expert with over 20 years of education and experience. Her knowledge of the body as well as the body/mind connection is extensive and her commitment to total body, mind, and spirit wellness is her driving force. She believes in a whole body, proactive approach to wellness where balance is the key, and kindness paves the way.

Emily is the host of the radio show All About Healing on Healthy Life Radio. She has a Bachelor’s degree in Exercise Science and Wellness as well as a Master’s of Science in Physical Education with a concentration in Human Performance. She graduated from the Atlanta School of Massage in clinical and neuromuscular massage therapy and went on to specialize through the Dr Vodder School North America in manual lymphatic drainage and combined decongestive therapy, working specifically with lymphedema. She has completed level 1 and 2 of Upledger Craniosacral Therapy. Emily holds a Gold Medal in the US Open in Tai Chi Forms, is a Usui & Karuna Ki Reiki master level practitioner, and has her 300 hours of yoga teacher training.

1. What is your favourite quote, anecdote, proverb or experience that helps with physical wellbeing?

Emily: A quote from Tom Blue Wolf that I always come back to and have framed is, “The Universe Will Rearrange Itself to Accommodate Your Perception of Reality.” Another quote I think of often is from Theodore Roosevelt, “Do what you can, with what you have, where you are.” If I’m doing that, that’s all I can ask. Lastly a teacher at my massage school once said, “Know what you know and know it confidently.” That one even my children repeat to themselves as they take tests. 

2. What is your top piece of advice for physical wellbeing?

Emily: My top advice is creating a healthy environment both inside your mind and body as well as in the physical world that you are living in. If the people and energies surrounding you are not in alignment with your greatest good and highest joy, it is up to you to change it. If you want to be well, you must create the life that supports your wellness. It sounds harsh but it’s the truth. You can fall or you can thrive and so much of it is based on what is all around you and how it supports or stunts your personal level of wellbeing. 

3. What is the one change in the world that you would like to see? (in your area of wellbeing or in the world in general or both)

Emily: One change? I’d like for people to be kinder to themselves, to others, and to animals. If I had the power to change the world, that is where I’d begin.

4. Which resources (books / websites / videos etc) for physical wellbeing would you recommend?

Emily: I love Anthony DeMello and his work. His book Awareness: The Perils and Opportunities of Reality is powerful. That’s my top recommendation outside of my own books and website of course! EmilyAFrancisbooks.com

5. What’s the one thing that always makes you smile?

Emily: What always makes me smile? My children laughing from that deep belly place. I find myself closing my eyes to take it all in. Animals that are treated well always make me smile. And now my new home in beautiful Malta, I look out at the Mediterranean Sea and give thanks as soon as I wake up each day. I smile deeply and close my eyes and connect myself with the serenity and power that the Sea brings. Every time I look at the water, I can’t help but smile and give thanks. 

 

Bonus Question! Is there anything else pertinent you would like to add to the conversation?

Emily: The thing I would love to add to this conversation is that each person is gifted with free will. You can change the course of your path but not just by wishing for it. It is up to you to get still, listen deeply and move in the direction that brings forth the greatest opportunities for your highest level of health and wellness. And when you get on that path and keep moving toward that great place, you will find that you deserve to be happy, healthy and free and know that you’ve done the work to make it so.
