The Physical Wellbeing 5 with Tina Wieland
1. What is your favourite quote, anecdote, proverb or experience that helps with physical wellbeing?
Tina: I have many quotes that I live by, including “Be present” which is tattooed on my arm, as someone who struggles with anxiety and living in the moment. However, for relating to health and wellness, I really enjoy the short and sweet quote, “Keep Showing Up”. I am a firm believer in imperfect action (even though it is a skill set that is outside of my comfort zone!) However, I believe that it is important to keep showing up day in and day out, whether it’s going for more reps in a workout or taking a rest day to recharge.
2. What is your top piece of advice for physical wellbeing?
Tina: My top piece of advice for physical well-being would be to start with small habits and build upon them. It can get overwhelming to try and change everything in your daily routine at once. Start small, with one thing and improve upon that. Oftentimes, we need to ADD in things into our lifestyle (more veggies and whole foods, more movement, more sleep) before we focus on what we need to take away! So, start small with one habit that you think you can change RIGHT NOW. Focus just on that, and as you achieve that habit, add another, than another.
3. What is the one change in the world that you would like to see? (in your area of wellbeing or in the world in general or both)
Tina: One change I would like to see in the world (especially the United States) is for mental health to be taken more seriously, and added into our health check-ups just like a doctor check-up. I believe mental health should be focused on more greatly with personal trainer assessments as well. Stress plays a huge role in our health, our side effects we may be experiencing and our overall progress towards our fitness goals. It’s one piece of the puzzle that often gets neglected.
4. Which resources (books / websites / videos etc) for physical wellbeing would you recommend?
Tina: Some great resources for health and fitness that are science-based yet realistic would be: the book Atomic Habits, the nutrition website Precision Nutrition, the health and wellness website Legion Athletics and of course (shameless promo) my own health and fitness blog, fithappysoul.com! There are many more out there, but I believe these are very comprehensive resources and have tons of great articles and are a great place to start!
5. What’s the one thing that always makes you smile?
Tina: One thing that makes me smile has to be cats. They are hilarious and adorable, and I can never NOT smile watching some funny cat TikToks!
Bonus Question, is there anything else pertinent you would like to add to the conversation?
Tina: I would like to add that I believe that my mission in the fitness industry is somewhat of a unique one. I believe that fitness is more than just a shredded physique. Your fitness, health and wellness is ALL-ENCOMPASSING. I help a mom to have enough energy to run around with her kids, or a young girl struggling with hormonal issues to learn to love her body and healthily lose the weight. Have someone gain confidence in the gym and actually ENJOY it. The physical results are a bi-product from putting in the work. This wellness thing is a LIFESTYLE and I set my clients up with skills for LIFE to live the healthiest life they can, no matter what stage they are in!
