How to Stop Hating Mondays
The Monday blues. Why do we get them? And how can we stop hating Mondays?
Hating Monday
Monday. Just hearing or seeing the word is enough to fill people with feelings of sadness, fear and dread. If we’re lucky enough not to work at the weekend, Monday can (for some) be the start of another repetitive cycle of hard work. There are many reasons why people can (justifiably) hate Monday. How can we change that frame of mind to start relishing the start of the week?
15 Reasons Why People Hate Mondays
There are many, very real reasons why people hate Monday including;
- Return to work after 2 days of “freedom” – The change between 2 different lives
- Comparison with the previous day
- Can mean an early start with no lie in
- Symbolises another week of hard work
- Job dissatisfaction – If you don’t like your job Monday is the furthest away from a break from it
- Relationships at work – Monday can potentially mean dealing with people you may not want to see or speak with
- Particularly difficult task or meeting in the week ahead
- Not being prepared for Monday morning and feeling overwhelmed
- Hating Mondays is a “thing.” Some people just fall in line with the general consensus
- Social media – People on social media will often share negative pictures or thoughts about Monday. This can also affect our thinking
- Looming deadlines
- Work hours can seem to go on forever
- Tired after a busy weekend
- Work has to start and there is no excuse or way around it
- You may feel worse about yourself after what you’ve done at the weekend (over drinking or eating etc)
