The Mental Wellbeing 5 with Jess X Goh
1. What is your favourite quote, anecdote, proverb or experience that helps with mental wellbeing?
Jess: This too shall pass – Persian Adage. We live in a world of duality so we must remember that change is ever-present and change brings new beginnings of who we’re about to become in order to live our best life. Instead of resisting change, learn to embrace it. Life will flow so much easier that way.
2. What is your top piece of advice for mental wellbeing?
Jess: Stay grounded and centered in the midst of chaos. It’s easy to get caught up in the story of assumptions and the illusion of our fears present. Truth is through the lens of love where our consciousness lies. Trust your intuition, not your trauma because everything in life happens for you, not to you so you can progress and evolve in your journey ahead.
3. What is the one change in the world that you would like to see? (in your area of wellbeing or in the world in general or both)
Jess: Make trauma recovery as mainstream therapy and connecting ourselves to nature by growing our produce or going to the Farmer’s markets and understand how food is produced without mass production, pesticides, preservatives and herbicides as our current healthcare system isn’t working. All of our mental health problems can be easily minimised and prevented when we start with the basics by looking into the root cause of our suffering and address it head on with the right knowledge, support, mentor and system.
4. Which resources (books / websites / videos etc) for wellbeing would you recommend?
Jess: I highly recommend reading The Emotional Incest Syndrome by Dr Patricia Love. Such an eye-opener about how family dynamics impact your current behaviours and attitudes towards relationships. For epic free inner child healing activations and resources on how the impacts of childhood trauma shape your personality and impacts your perspective on life, go to my YouTube Channel: Life In Confidence.
5. What’s the one thing that always makes you smile?
Jess: Listening to the Kookaburras laughing their hearts out as I work from home, noticing my neighbour’s cat sitting across my apartment on a windowsill checking me out and enjoying a hearty plant-based pie! It’s the simple pleasures in life.
Bonus Question! Is there anything else pertinent you would like to add to the conversation?
Jess: Challenge your curiosity by questioning what’s going on through your head and the world we live in today. Attempt to see things from various perspectives and choose which perspective is aligned with your alchemy as you navigate your way in this jungle called life.
