5 Simple Questions to help with mental wellbeing with answers from Experts, Thought Leaders, Campaigners & Advocates

Pamela Gail Johnson

Pamela is an author, happiness advocate and the Founder of “The Society of Happy People.”

The Society of Happy People helps people recognize happiness and celebrate more happiness. The Society believes sharing your happiness with other happy people makes two people smile more. They have identified 31 Types of Happiness to help people find more happiness and were the first group to create three happy holiday celebrations to inspire more people to celebrate happiness.

Pamela’s book “Practical Happiness: Four Principles to Improve Your Life” (release date Jan 4th 2022) helps readers to consider their own happiness from a different perspective, rather than telling them how to be happy as per the latest scientific study. The four happiness principles in Practical Happiness are a philosophy for living a realistic yet happy life; Happiness is personal, Happiness Zappers can be managed, Happiness changes as you change & Happiness is bigger than you think. Pamela Gail Johnson Bio

The Mental Wellbeing 5 with Pamela Gail Johnson

1. What is your favourite quote, anecdote, proverb or experience that helps with mental wellbeing?

Pamela: Man plans, God laughs. ~ Yiddish Proverb

2. What is your top piece of advice for mental wellbeing?

Pamela: Stay mindful so you’re living in the moment. This allows you to manage your Happiness Zappers — those experiences that make us feel unhappy, stressed, fearful, chaotic, or annoyed, and notice how big happiness really is.

3. What is the one change in the world that you would like to see? (in your area of wellbeing or in the world in general or both)

Pamela: I’d like to see mental health struggles taken as seriously as when someone has a physical illness so people would feel more comfortable seeking help. That would make it easier to create a happier world one person at a time.

4. Which resources (books / websites / videos etc) for wellbeing would you recommend?

Pamela: The Society of Happy People (SOHP.com) and the Happiness Counter to introduce people to 31 Types of Happiness (https://sohp.com/counter)

5. What’s the one thing that always makes you smile?

Pamela: So many things — but a sure #SmileStarter for me is when people share something that made them smile. This way we get to share a smile.
